Set up a mail service account

4. Head over to Brevo.com and create a free-plan account. You’ll be able to send to a list of up to 300 subscribers. The next bump up is currently $8/mo and gets you up to 5000.

You may notice that Brevo has a full CRM capability and lots of other interesting capabilities, but for now we’ll be using it as just a way to send our newsletters. Brevo has tools for creating newsletters, but we’ll be using Newsletter Glue here on your own site.

Once you’ve got your account, the only thing you need to do is

  1. Log in
  2. In the upper right hand corner, click the account button and then click Settings
  3. On the settings page, click the option in the left-hand menu for SMTP & API
  4. Under the SMTP & API header, click the “API keys and MCP” tab
  5. Use the “Generate a New API Key” button in the upper right
  6. Name the key whatever you like
  7. Copy the key and store it separate if you’d like (a good idea)
  8. While the API is still copied to your clipboard, paste it below:

Remember that you can’t mail anything till we get this API key bit done…
